The Zoho School of Technology is known for its unique educational practices. Zoho School started in 2005 as a meaningful alternative to a conventional college education. What started with just 6 students in its first year has now groomed over 800 software professionals who are proud employees of Zoho Corporation.

The Zoho School of Technology focuses on what is needed to become a well-rounded software engineer. Our two-year programme is designed to bring out the best of every student who joins us. The first year of learning will involve subjects like Structured Problem Solving, industry-relevant programming languages, Web, Mobile and Client-Server Technologies, Foundational Mathematics for Software Engineering, and Communication Skills. 

The students join the teams at Zoho after one year of classroom-training and work as interns the following year.

Contextual learning is the key difference at Zoho Schools. The students are free to discover the beauty of programming through practical learning rather than a boring dump of dry theory. A plethora of guest lectures from practicing professionals from Zoho Corporation ensures that they stay abreast with current IT trends. Experiential learning makes it all the more enjoyable.

Nestled deep in rural Tamil Nadu, in the foothills of the towering Western Ghats, and surrounded by lush green paddy fields and majestic palm groves, is a branch of Zoho Corporation. While the adjoining Courtallam Falls and the nearby temple town of Tenkasi (Kasi of the South) are well-known tourist attractions, the Zoho branch here that employs almost 500 people and produces world-class software, is an unsung hero (and happy to be so!).

We’ve blended in, and by sourcing most of our talent locally, we have become a company of the local people. The software products we create, however, are used both locally, as well as throughout the world.

Great talent exists everywhere and is not necessarily concentrated in urban locations. All that we needed to do was to find these young talented individuals, provide the nurturing atmosphere, and to give the resources and the freedom to help them realize their potential. 

The Zoho School of Technology, Tenkasi, was founded in 2013 by an enterprising Zoho employee from Chennai, whose mission in life was to find and nurture such potential. With assistance from an experienced team of faculty and management from Chennai, the Zoho School in Tenkasi has now blossomed from a small school that graduated 6 students in its first year, to one that graduated 40 students in its 7th year. Over these years, we have graduated 175 students, all handpicked from local high schools and diploma colleges, who are now working professionals at Zoho Corporation.

As with the School of Technology in Chennai, we focus on subjects that are necessary to develop well-rounded software engineers, viz., Structured Problem Solving, Programming, Mathematics, and Communication in English. We focus on experiential learning; students work on projects, both big and small. We emphasize a holistic approach to education so that students understand what they are doing and why, which ensures that the learning is relevant and meaningful.

Students also work on actual Zoho products, which ensures their education is contextual, and in doing so, interact with and learn from working professionals: industry experts who conceive and build all of Zoho’s software products.

We recruit students who are less than 20 years old and do not have any college (Bachelors or higher) degree. Applicants should have good problem-solving ability, and excellent numeracy, mathematical, and logical thinking skills.
